散熱器是冷卻系統的關鍵部件，其目的是保護發動機免受過熱造成的損壞。散熱器的原理是通過冷空氣體降低散熱器中發動機防凍液的溫度。散熱器由兩個關鍵結構組成，一個是由小扁管組成的散熱板，一個是溢流槽(位于散熱板的頂部、底部或兩側)
散熱器一般分：風冷，水（油）冷，還有其他高端散熱。但是平民基本都是風冷,就是在散熱片上加裝風扇，達到更好的散熱效果，也有為了靜音，使用無風扇散熱器的，但對散熱片材質和鑄造工藝要求較高。
